Michael,
You are correct; Orlando also expressed an interest in hosting nationals in 2005. The USMS Board of Directors was asked to vote for either Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale. Apparently Ft. Lauderdale won the vote.
I guess it seems that there's not much chance of Nationals ever going to a new venue anymore? This is a depressing thought. I have a feeling in the coming years with such lack of interest in hosting nationals, that eventually they'll will be phased out completely.
Unless I’m mistaken Hawaii and Cleveland in 2002 were new venues, Rutgers this year was a new venue, and Savannah next year is a new venue. If not new pools, at least they were new UMSM national championship sites.
Ft Lauderdale is a great facility and so close to the beach too! It's a much better choice for me than Orlando!- better hotels within walking distance too. Thanks for voting for Ft.Lauderdale.
