  • Cleveland State University is located on a busy business corridor and is adjacent to the Theater District which is quite nice. I would not say that it is located in a particularly "dangerous" section and there isn't any low income housing near by. Cleveland State University has it's own police force that is on duty 24 x 7. I swim at CSU and arrive and leave in the dark (for most of the year). None of our swimmers have had any problems and our cars have never been vandalized. Cleveland is a large city and swimmers should use the same caution that they would anywhere else. If I was coming to the meet and staying downtown I would feel comfortable staying at the Comfort Inn which is 1/4 mile from the pool and is located on the same avenue. I would feel comfortable walking to and from the hotel alone during the day. At night I would walk with others, just as I would in any large city. As for restaurants, we will be providing an extensive list and a map to all swimmers. The University will be out of session at the time of the meet so the cafeterias will be closed. Since CSU is so close to downtown, there is easy access to about any kind of food imaginable. We will be providing a nice selection of food choices at the pool as well. The closest restaurant is the Rascal House that is located across the street from the pool and is a fun college pizza and burger place.
