Virtual Swimtathlon League: Stage Three Results

STAGE THREE, the most difficult stage in the 2018 VIRTUAL SWIMTATHLON LEAGUE, is complete, and our swimmers continue to impress! 19 athletes (of 37) completed all five events of STAGE THREE with five new STAGE RECORDS. Congratulations to Rebecca Friedlander (52) of Reno, Pamela Ogden (61) of Eau Claire, Michael Leake (40) in Bennington, Tim Waud (51) in Oregon City, and Peter Branson (62) in Wrangell, for setting their respective age group records. Rebecca, Pamela, and Tim lowered their own records from 2017 while Michael and Peter established NEW records. The STAGE RESULTS are linked here. There are pages for OVERALL, BY GENDER, BY AGE and AGE-GRADED. With the age-grading, I used the formulas published by USMS from a few years back. During STAGE THREE, the top four swimmers on the men’s side were separated by less than 20-seconds: That’s close! I have a feeling that Mark Rubacky is going to lay down some FAST TIMES this fall, so the overall championship at the end of the year may be his…especially with Patrick Brundage and Jeff Enge on the sideline (???). I’m happy to say that I am back in the running as I finally made it back to the pool after a season of open water events. I spent ONE ENTIRE practice on all five STAGE THREE events and my three missing STAGE TWO events. SLOW, but I got them done. In STAGE FOUR, members may submit times for ANY of the 15 standard events, and don’t forget the DISTANCE FREE TRIATHLON with the 500, 1000, and 1650! Coach Mark
