VMST is proud to host the 2013 Colonies Zone Long Course Championship on June 22-23 in Richmond, VA. This will be held at a brand new facility in Richmond, VA. The pool is the same used in the 2008 US Olympic Trials in Omaha...you know, the one that launched Michael Phelps' 8 gold medals. This is a great facility and a fast pool.
Online entries will open at 8am on Saturday Feb 16. Paper entry forms will be made available after online entry goes live. Note the 80-person limit for the 1500m free on the first day, so register early if you want to save your spot.

Hope to see you there!

8 a.m.!
Chris, I live in the eastern time zone. 8 a.m. in Richmod is, well, 8 a.m. in Pittsburgh.
How do you possibly expect me to get up early enough to beat out the hordes of Team Z (for Zombies?) time trialians who will spare no expense to ruin swimming for pool swimming enthusiasts.
Is it too late to change the sign up time to a much more civilized gentleman's 11 a.m.?

Help me out here, though: you think 8am is much too early to wake up to sign up for an 8am race? Something seems a little off about that...give me a second, it'll come to me...

Even better Jim...I can gather up a bunch of my buddies on the west coast, and we can all logon precisely at 5:00am PST to flood the 1500 event with registrations. Who knows if we'd actually make the cross country trip for the event though?
Even better...... I'm going to grab 79 of my closest 400 IM friends and we're all going to enter the 1500; we'll hold it hostage until the 400 IM is moved to a more sane and reasonable part of the agenda.
In all seriousness, though, I will be up at 5am, I will be entering the 1500 and I will be swimming the first 400 as a 400 IM, then loafing the rest of the swim. Rest assured, though, the entry time will be spot on what I end up doing so I won't run amok of the Anti-Sandbag-Police. And, yes, I know the time won't be official and won't count for TT, but that's not what I swim for. Besides, that will be my 'prelims' swim in preparation for the 400 IM 'finals' on Sunday.
I am looking forward to the meet.

I am thrilled thrilled thrilled because I won't be swimming before 11:00 am. Why on Saturday, I might not swim until after 2:00. I usually dislike long course, but am really looking forward to this fairly close to home meet in a fantastic pool!
That's called "pulling a Tall Paul." Although I think he did a 100 split in a 1000.
Better yet, do a Laura Val and get all your free recognized distances as split requests. Didn't she crush every distance record once en route to a 1500?
