The purpose of the Swim With Mike scholarship is to help individuals who have suffered a serious accident or an illness. Due to the increased need for the Physically Challenged Athletes Scholarship Fund and given the fact the that Swim With Mike is the only scholarship program of its kind, in 1999, Swim With Mike decided to expand nationally and award scholarships to recipients attending schools other than USC.
The Swim With Mike mission statement is to provide financial resources for the advanced education and to pave the way for physically challenged athletes to overcome their tragedies and realize their full potential- no matter where he or she goes to school.

I was there for the first one, which was Swim For Mike. Mike was taken by ambulance from the hospital to the pool and made a surprise appearance. He promised from then on it was going to be Swim With Mike.
Personally handed my Swim With Mike flyer this evening to: Greg Louganis, Cassidy Krug, Jessica Hardy, and Amanda Beard.
Thanks for accepting my flyer and reading it.
Awsome!
One of the best swimming experiences I have ever had of any swimming related activity. Participated in the Masters workout coached by Mr. David Salo. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Mr. Salo spent a little one-on-one with me, and we spoke for a short while too. Fun times, great food. awesome goodie bag. All for a great cause.
For those of you who have not clicked on Bill's links, Swim With Mike is an organization that provides scholarships for college athletes who became disabled through accident or illness. Imagine going from college athlete to permanently "physically challenged" from one incident.
There are 60 of these former athletes going on with their lives at 36 different schools in 2012-13 due to scholarships from Swim With Mike.
Quick Thank You to Swim With Mike.
Last week recevied an e-mail from Swim With Mike. I won an award for my participation. Not the big award to Hawaii, but a smaller award. I will be swimming in my first Open Water Swim compliments of Swim With Mike. I will be participating in the Carona del Mar (Calif) 1 mile open water swim on Saturday, August 24th.
Looking foward to it. Oh yeah!
