We had another successfull Pennock swim on August 12. Water temp was a balmy 54+, slight overcast, little wind small tide all added up to an outstanding day of swimming. We had 16 swimmers hit the water, 6 naked and 10 in wetsuits. We had 15 finishers and one swimmer pulled due to cold and our safety worked flawlessly. The banquet was very nice and it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves. We raised a little over 10,000.00 for the American Diabetes Association, converted two young pool swimmers into open water swimmers, humbled one triathelete and except for a rather long winded bourbon induced rant about wetsuits (printed in local paper, which I managed to not see and have yet to read) I managed to not piss anyone off. You gotta love the Makers Mark. I think we will have the results and pictures up on the website shortly.
The 10th annual PIC will be held on August 4th 2013. Which should be a great weekend as the annual Blueberry Festival is in full swing and does not really feature much blueberry stuff, curious. We have a hell of a slug race though.
