Hi everyone.
If you are not heading to Nationals this spring but are still looking for some racing, consider dropping in to the Monumental Masters Mini Meet in southwestern Vermont on Saturday, April 28th. I think that this will be a great meet for a swimmer who has not competed before as a master, or perhaps triathletes in the area looking to get in a fast 500 Free for time before the season takes off.
This will be the first masters meet at our town's pool, and we are excited to see some representation from the states around us. This is a recognized meet, and we will be reporting times to the USMS database if you provide your USMS number when registering. We will have two fun 25 yard "Sprint" events that are sure to provide some comic relief! :cheerleader:
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks - and happy swimming!

Mike, I was looking at your meet format, and one suggestion at least for the next time: Split up the 50s and 100s of the same stroke. The rest of it is fine, but some people might want to do the 50 and 100 ***, and having them back to back just would deter them from possibly entering.
...and no 200 Fly or 400 IM??? That's why I didn't sign up! :bolt:

I tossed that idea around a bit, but ended up going with a Pentathlon-type event order because I think that the swimmers in our area will be looking more at swimming certain distances more than strokes.
and no 200 Fly or 400 IM???
I brought both of these suggestions to the group, and was turned down (I think that with the exception of my buddy Brent, I might have been the only one to sign up for either). It seemed like a stretch to get the 200 IM in the order, so you might see me swimming that again.
Thanks for checking it out. Of course, once I get your commitment for next year's meet, James, I'll build it around you: bookend the 2fly and 4IM first and last, and add a 1650 kicker in the middle. :D

At least make the 400 IM first. That's a painful SOB of an event to have at the end of a meet.
Registration closes in two days, this Wednesday. If you are thinking about making the trip to southwestern Vermont, shoot me an email so that I can be on the lookout.
Thanks, and good luck to everyone swimming this weekend!
