A big shout-out to Cokie Lepinski and the talented group of Pacific Masters coaches for putting on an outstanding clinic this weekend in San Mateo, CA. The Excel Weekend was packed with activities to help Masters swimmers sharpen their skills, and is a 'can't miss' event that I will put on my calendar again. There were so many great things about this clinic, everything from water rotations for swimmers, dryland opportunities, open water activities, and guest speakers such as Dave Durden and Rowdy Gaines. As an Illinois/Flatlander, I wasn't sure what to expect from the weekend in sunny (ahem) California, but Cokie and Co. got it right. I hope Pacific Masters continues to support Excel Weekend. A big 'thank you' goes out to the coaches who organized, sponsored, and led-out on this event!

I second this! I came away with a whole host of tips to improve my stroke -- now to practice them enough to make them stick!

I've attended most every masters swim clinic I can manage and this EXCEL Weekend exceeded anything I have experienced. I registered as a swimmer for $150. but also attended the coaches sessions outside of the swim instruction.
Really excellent. Thank you to Cokie who pulled off the organization and a solid team to see through the logistics.
And special gratitude to Pacific Masters Swimming and it's coaches committee. Truly an organization that values their club's Coaches. And supports coaches education in every sense of the word.
About the host club and facility... The College of San Mateo's new aquatic facility is gorgeous and so are the locker rooms! There is a new masters coach in town, Head Coach Tom Reudy who is also a known fast guy in the pool and former stunt double to the Man from Atlantis!
The San Mateo Masters will host The Founder's Day LC Meet on Sunday June 26. Why call it the Founder's Day Meet??
It seems that this club holds the distinction of being the very first USMS Club!
