Looking ahead to 2012, they have posters here in Sweden about the next FINA Masters to be held in Riccione, Italy. I went there when they held it in 2004 and had a great time. The dates are June 2-16, 2012.
Over 15.000 athletes are expected to compete in all disciplines. "only" 1.500 competing next week end in our home meet

Is there time limit for entry for the ow swimming?
from the official website
Race organizers, in consultation with the referee and subject to advice from FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee, are to designate in advance the cut off time for each Masters race. As a rough guide, a time of 30 minutes per kilometer could apply.
So about 90 minutes to be in the results list but no time limit for entries
Going to Riccione in June 2012 with a friend who is a Masters swimmer. My question is for those swimmers who have been to Riccione in the past. Is there a hotel that's closer (more convenient) to the swimming events in Riccione? Any other tips? Thanks.
At the 2004 Worlds in Riccione, the shuttle bus and city bus service were great. I bought meet passes for family members and that was our main transportation. I was never sure if the passes were shuttle buses only or city buses also. No one ever questioned us, so I guess it was okay to use both. Most of the hotels were on the beach while the pool and athletic complex are not on the beach.
Yes, the times you submit do not have to be proven or be official times. However, if you don't make the qualifying time, your times will not appear in the results.
