Arizona State Meet 3/27-29 2009

Great meet with lots of very fast swimming...nice to have Rob Butcher in attendence and take down all the youngsters in the 50/200 ***! Also, Norika Inada and Kohei Kawamato each took down some very impressive records. W30-34 Short Course Yards Records 50 Back Angel Martino 04-15-00 25.73 100 Back K Pipes-Neilsen 05-04-96 57.13 * Nori was 24+ & 54+ M25-29 Short Course Yards Records 50 Fly Sabir Muhammad 03-25-04 21.15 100 Fly Matthew T Marshall 04-13-08 48.36 * Kohei was 20.9 & 47.1 Neither was rested, Kohei wore the LZR leggings, Nori wore and old FSII (she also borke the 200 back record by Karlyn of 1:59 with a 1:57 at a kids meet that wasn't USMS sanctioned where she also went 53.3 in the 100 back).

  • (Very biased response) Meet was very well run (kudos to Mark Rankin and the BEST Masters' crew) Weather was beautiful Facility was wonderful Deep, cool water Loads of deck/lounging space Loads of warm-up/warm-down lanes (something like 15 lanes) Timing relative to SCY nationals and to big "Nov/Dec SCM meets was great whether you chose to taper or not (I did) Anyone looking for a great meet in 2010, you should consider this. Even if it's not at BEST again, it'll probably be at equally great facilities like ASU or U of A.
