  • Does anybody have an idea where 2012 is going to be? It was in US, Australia, and then Europe - I am thinking next time most likely in Asia. Perhaps? A location has to bid for the FINA World Masters Championships. Bid are made through the country's national governing body. If there are no bids from South America, Africa or Asia, then there is no chance of the World Masters Championships being there. Also think about what is needed to conduct a world Masters Championships. Riccione had two fifty meter pools and one 25 m warm up. Stanford had two fifty meter pools and two warm up pools. Perth had three three fifty meter pools, a synchro pool/dive tank and a water polo pool. Shieffield has one fifty meter pool and one diving tank. If you are going to have 6,000 to 8,500 swimmers you need a lot of water and that very much limits where you can have a championship. Think about how many places in the US could hold a World Championships - very very few. If you have a chance to go, go. It will be a lot of fun (as long as you are not organizing meet). -michael
