Illinois Masters Swimming Association Presents: Summer 2006: I Swam A Marathon. What Did You Do? Inaugural Fitness Event What better way to stay fit than to swim a marathon over the summer? It’s easy—well sort of… During the months of May, June, July and August 2006, count up yards, Meters, miles, etc., and swim enough to equal 26.2 miles. Fill out the enclosed log and registration form. Send in a check for $5 ILMSA members and $10.00 for other USMS members. What is the I Swam A Marathon. What Did You Do? Fitness Event? The I SWAM A MARATHON is a fitness event designed to motivate swimmers to complete 26.2 miles throughout the summer of 2006. It challenges all levels of swimmers to swim and stay fit. Simply count up any swimming done throughout the summer, convert yards and meters to miles and swim enough to meet the goal of 26.2 miles. Where and when do I accomplish the I SWAM A MARATHON? At any pool or body of water during the months of May, June, July and August 2006. The challenge is to complete 26.2 miles. COACHES: Sign up your entire team and use the event as a team challenge. How do I score the I SWAM A MILE? “Scoring” is simple – just finish the 26.2 miles and be the proud owner of a t-shirt or certificate. When do I receive my T-shirt? The event is open to registered Masters swimmers. Enter by filling out the entry form included below. Entries must be postmarked by September 10, 2006.
