There is a new virtual swim available from the USMS Fitness Committee. If you are not familiar with virtual swims please see the USMS website (www.usms.org) where there is lots of information in the fitness section.
This swim, the "Virtual Swim to Worlds", refers to the XI FINA World Championships in California this August. The swim consists of each zone virtually racing to the world championship meet. A graph with the current race in progress between the zones will be updated on the USMS website the first week of each month until August when the racing goes from virtual to the real thing.
The event is free. All you need to do is email Mary Sweat at marysweat@email.com each month with your name, age, zone and how much you swam during the month.
More information about this event (and a swim log) can be found at www.usms.org/.../virtualswims.
The Virtual Swim to Worlds has begun! The results from January show the NW Zone has taken an early lead ... but a couple of other zones have gotten off to a really good start also.
This is a virtual swim where participation really counts!
A graph of this "race in progress" has been posted on www.usms.org/.../virtualswims Each month the results will be updated and posted. More information and details are also available via the link above.
The results from February have been posted on the USMS website (please see the fitness section). The Colonies Zone has taken quite a dominant and very impressive lead. So much so that they have nearly completed the virtual race distance!
This is a virtual swim where participation really counts! Join the fun (it's really quite simple!) by tracking the number of miles you swim each month and sending your entry in via email. Make sure to spread the word to your swimming pals. Please see the website for specific information.
The Colonies Zone has dominated and won (!) the Virtual Swim to Worlds! Please check out the latest chart (which includes the March results) of the "race in progress" at www.usms.org/.../virtualswims
The Colonies Zone is encouraged to continue racing! Let's see if you all can make the trip twice (how about three times?). And let's see if the NW Zone can hold on to second place ... or will the Dixie Zone splurge ahead and negative split their race?
Participation by all is encouraged and welcome. We currently have over 45 folks enjoying this virtual swim - care to join the fun?
Stay tuned ..... ony 4 months to go....
