The Pennock Island Challenage has been set for August 6 2006. This open water race is a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. The race features a 8 mile swim around Pennock Island. Pennock is situated in front of the beautiful city of Ketchikan, located in the Tongas National forest of southeast Alaska. Along with being an outstanding venue for swimming Ketchikan offers outstanding fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, kayaking and camping. The Pennock Challenge can be entered by individual swimmers or relays made up of 2-4 people. The course is approximately 8.2 miles, water temp at that time is in the upper 50s, water conditions exellent. Entry includes, cap, t-shirt, banquet and award.
