DCB Extreme Adventures has once again joined with the City of Tempe to offer the Tempe Town Lake Open Water Swims in Tempe, AZ. There will be two races offered on Octobber 2nd in conjunction with the Fat Tire Triathlon and the city's Oktoberfest Celebration. In fact, all the races finish right by the entrance to Oktoberfest.
The first race is a 1600-meter swim on a triangular course. There you will start in the water, swim two laps on the same course that will be used in the triathlon and exit onto a boat ramp.
The second swim is the 2.4 mile Dam to Dam Race. Swimmers will be ferried by tour boat to the east dam and jump in for the start. They will swim the entire length of the lake along the south boat and finish by the entrance to the Oktoberfest Celebration. Tempe Town Lake is also the swim venue for the Arizona Ironman, which debutes this year.
The 1600-meter race will start at 7:30 and the Dam to Dam swim will start at 9:00. The shuttle boats for the Dam to Dam swim will leave at 8:15. Athletes wishing to participate in both races will be allowed to do so. In addition to masters swimmers, these races have also been sanctioned by USA Swimming. We will swim all ages together, but we will score them separately for awards.
