Austin just canceled SXSW. Is it safe to think Nationals will go on as planned. Is it safe to do so. I really want to go to Nationals, but I am 71 and concerned.
Hi All,
Right now, because my pool is shut down, I wish I had an endless pool in the back yard. :)
I said the exact same thing to my husband today when I took off for a walk!
ElaineK, I don't think your posts are snarky in the least. I appreciate all of the factual information you've shared.
My gym is still open. I'm torn about going to the pool. They are wiping down everything every 20 minutes and it is very clean. Are you still swimming? We have no cases in our county so far.
Thanks, Renie, I appreciate it.
I sure wish I could swim! The recreation center and pool in my community closed on Saturday "until further notice," and there isn't a pool anywhere in our area that is opened. For now, it's walking, yoga, body weight exercises, and Theraband.
Are you still swimming?
I am the coach of my YMCA team and we are still open. I only had two people show up for practice today.
Nice thing about swimming is that there isn't many surfaces to wipe down! Curious to know if other teams are still holding practices.

This is such a nightmare. We should start a thread on support for swimmers through this crisis. I need a total knee replacement (ex-runner for 30 years), so I'm limited as to what I can do to replace swimming.
I'm mostly disappointed for older kids who are in the heat of recruiting and trying to potentially make Trials. We have 3-4 kids on our team trying. One was going to the TYR meet in CA in April. My daughter is a sophomore, and has some D1 interest. At least one big P5 school. The kids who are juniors are in worse shape.

Sounds a little bit like me. A runner of nearly 45 years, I am currently schedule for an MRI on my knee in a couple weeks. Doctor say the x-ray show the knee is good, and shouldn't need knee replacement. The pain is most likely being cause by soft tissue injuries. And yet I still run on it...albeit very slowly. Fortunately, I am also a bicyclist so I have that to fall back on.

I'm still swimming until they pry my goggles from my cold, wet handsWell ... that didn't take long ... all pools in my town were closed by yesterday evening. I should've swum longer yesterday ... or learned how to be Lewis Pugh so I could head out into a local lake, which are just starting to melt!

Yeah, I was thinking of Lynn Cox when our pool closed. I read her book about her Bering Strait swim when it first came out, and I thought about how nice it would be to be able to do some open water swimming right about now!
