Would anyone like to share goals for 2011 too? My bucket swims this season include the Boston Light Swim (August) and the Great Chesapeake Bay Bridge Swim (June)... might try swimming the ASA Lake Travis Relay (October) as a solo...
The new season is nearly upon us, and I imagine we do have a few southern hemisphere visitors to this board.
Where and when does your 2011 season kick off?
I am waiting to see the date and details set for Rice Women's Twin Lakes Open Water Festival - mid- to late April, and definitely the Cap 2k sponsored by Sandy and Keith Bell and their American Swimming Association at Lady Bird Lake, Austin, TX.
Looks like the USMS 25K Champs will be my first this season in Noblesville, IN in June. Trying to get a 3x5K or 4x5K relay together with some of my teammates.
wow - Noblesville, IN's 25K is off my radar screen for the near term.
I am hoping to make my way to Mallory Mead's Lake Maxinkuckee, Indiana swim this year - Swim for Kids' Sake
The 2011 event appears set for August 27, 2011

Alei - seems like plenty of open water swims in Australia. Of course, treking from new south wales to queensland to south australia to victoria to northern territory to western australia is a major undertaking.
it does seem you don't have to venture from the greater sydney metropolis to keep busy.
best of luck - I'm certain most of us posters do want to complete an open water in Australia.
I'm excited for the OWS to begin. Am soooo over winter.
My first swim for 2011 will be a swim in Sydney my hometown (Australia) - the sydney harbour swim www.sydneyharbourswim.com/
And then back to Japan (where I am based) for some OWS throughout the summer.
I will be using the OWS events as good training for a swimtrek holiday this year which I have booked for later on in the summer. http://www.swimtrek.com/
Interest in the 25K is growing rapidly... The solo field is more than 25% full with nearly 4 months until race day. Early bird (discounted) registration ends in 2 months on April 23rd. Don't get shut out by delaying your entry.
