Great great great event! Flying cross country to play in cold water with the crew from CIBBOWS was totally worth it :D
I've got some pictures from the event over here robaquatics.com/.../2010-cibbows-veterans-day-5k-wrap-up.html and here www.facebook.com/album.php if anybody wants to check out the frosty goodness... or at least Dave in a zebra striped speedo
Great blog entry. Sounds like fun, but a red eye flight the night before? Yikes. I need to make sure I get a lot of sleep before a cold swim. I don't know how you did it.
That looks like so much fun! I think CIBBOWS needs a "Chicago House" annex.
:)
Water temp here is definitely below 55. This is probably the wrap-up week for Lake Michigan swims - until January 1!
A lovely writeup from Rob! Thanks!
As a self appointed remote CIBBOW, I jumped in the lake on the northside on Sunday. 43 degrees. Short swim. hehehe

I was worried about that too. I did ok on Saturday, but I acclimated way faster when I swam on Sunday after a good night's sleep with a bonus daylight savings hour thrown in for good measure.

If you are thinking about swimming Tampa Bay, you had better start acclimatizing by swimming in warmer water.
