Looking for a (or maybe a couple) open water swim(s) in Indiana or surrounding states in August (not counting Big Shoulders know that one already) Any suggestions greatly appreciated...
Wasn't there a 5K/10K in Elkhart, Indiana last year. I seem to remember it being the week after Big Shoulder's. It was a fund raiser for dogs I think. I really didn't hear about it till a couple days before. I forget the name of the lake. I know this is vague but I do remember reading about it and even looking at an entry form.

Not having it this year. I received an email directly from the Elkhart county Humane Society, they had no sponsor this year...told them that myself and two daughters had wanted to swim there...said they would put it on adgenda for possbile swim next year. Because of that I have no swims left which is what lead me to post this to begin with...gotta find a swim, right now the one in Central Ill looks like a good option.
I would guess that the water temp will be pretty decent for swimming (~80ish). According to this website for Patterson Lake:

the water temp is currently 71 (estimated). But I think that this is the temp some level below the surface (it is a fishing site). I looked up a lake near me, and it said the current temp is 76, but having same there last week, it was 84.
Certainly the connector areas between lakes will be warmer.
I'm registered, so I'll be there.
