there was a 10k national championship in huntington bay a couple of years ago that had some strong currents. two loops around a 5k course. i didn't feed until over 2 hours into the race.... .
You mean you are allowed to stop to eat during the 5k or 10k? So all those OW events like 2M, 25M etc. are done with stops? How many times can you stop, for how long each?

some events allow a personal escort kayak usually 10k or longer. you can feed as often as you like, but can't hold on the the boat.
