  • I will do 2 this summer. The rest are too far for me to travel to. Dierkes Lake Tri & 1 mi OW, Twin Falls, ID - I only do the mile unless I can find a team for the tri then I'll do both. Donner Lake Swim, Truckee, CA - 2.7 mi at an elevation of 5300+ feet. Fun(?) swim with a great party after.

2007 Bay Islands International Triathlon, March 18th in Roatan, Honduras. They have sprint, Olympic, and International distances. I'll be swimming on a relay. Registration is open until March 15th; go online if you want a sunny, tropical turquoise water experience. Donna

    1. Hoosier Mile...Huntington Indiana....2. I plan on swimming the lake near my office...3 miles....have support boat and kayak ready...never did more than a one mile open water. 3. One more if I can find a mid- late summer event within 400 miles of Indiana, for both Seniors and Age Groupers. Thinking Little Red lighthouse next year.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a while, but I finally decided to sign up. I took a bit of an extended break from swimming last year, and I only just got back to regular practices in January, so I was a little scared when I got an e-mail confirming my entry into the Chesapeake Bay Swim. But so far, the training's going well. Here are the races that are definitely on my calendar so far: 5/19 USMS 5K Open Water Championship in Fort Myers, FL 5/27 1.5K Lady Liberty Swim, NYC (Hudson River) 6/10 4.4 mi Chesapeake Bay Swim I'd really, really like to do the Boston Light Swim in August, but I'm not going to commit until after I see how I feel at the Chesapeake Bay Swim. If not this year, then definitely the next. And I'll probably enter a few races in the New York City area in the 2-3 mile range. My boyfriend started swimming recently, and I'm hoping that by the time September rolls around, he'll be ready to do the half-mile Cove to Cove swim in the Hudson together. (It's taking some convincing though. He still thinks I'm insane for even dipping a toe into that river.)

I've never done open water races before (im more of a sprinter in any event) but I have been increasing my consecutive swim times to 2hours so, I am feeling the confidece bug. I am considering swimming in the lake george OW (esp. since theres a 500m) but I also hope to do some races over in NJ in the ocean. I'm not sure when they are, haven't yet looked into it, but I know they're there::family goes to the jersey shore every summer and they always have fliers and such for them... yup thats my agenda. Got my swimp3 player to work this afternoon...so more consecutive swims to come:-D

I'm definitely doing these: 1. Potomac River Swim 7.5 miles (6/2) 2. Lake Montclair, 1 and 2 miles (did the 2 mile last year, this year both) Possibly Reston, but that's only one week before the Potomac (5/27), so I'm not sure about that since it's a 3 hour drive. If I go, will probably do both the 1 and 2 mile swims, but not the championship. Any advice? The Jack King 1 mile at Virginia Beach if they have it this year. Haven't seen anything about it yet. Either the Rainbow Channel Challenge or the September Splash if I can arrange the time to travel.

Morgan I have a swimP3 player and am disappointed. There is so much noise associated with swimming that the music is hard to hear.
