The Pensacola 3 Mile Bridge Swim is April 22, 2007 and registration is now open on Active.com or www.pirateswimming.org/Pensac...ridgeSwim.html. The course has changed to be closer to the bridge due to shoreline work and we are looking to having a great social afterwards. The awards are by overall top 10 + Top Male and Top Female. We will send out certificates to all swimmers with their race time. This is a USAT sanctioned event and wetsuit legal if the water temp is under 78.

hello everybody, i just participated in the bridge swim last sunday.it was my first time & a great experience.the water was pretty rough ( swalloed a lot -yackieeh) & not really warm (69 F), but it was no problem without a wetsuit. the organizers did an awesome job & i was really dissapointed, that they didn't even post an article in the local newspaper. so , if you are up for it, do it next year! i will be there again, for sure. by the way, the oldest guy was 71 - isn't that wonderful??!! high five for everybody who has a passion for swimming! daniela

That swim was alot of fun. From the start the water conditions made it evident no speed records would be set, but that's part of openwater swimming. I was happy to participate in an event that wasn't over orchestrated by swim-nazi's. Looking forward to it next year. :drink:

This sounds like such a great swim. I have run the Double Bridge in Pcola the last two years. Would really like to be able to say swam the Bay. Having grown up in Pensacola with relatives there it would be exceptionally meaningful. For my Rhode Island buds: If any of you SOS from RI are reading, give it some thought. Dr. Mike? Dan F? Onne? The ladies? Any further info, drop an E: Jimparham@Cox.net Thanks for the info so far. Jim

Hello all, I want to do the run and swim but if the swim starts at the same time the run does then I am afraid that I will be in the water by myself or won't make the out of the water time. I am getting back into swimming after two kids and my goal is to finish this year. I am not a fast runner but I have done a few 5k's long long ago. I am now doing 2 mile swims twice a week and running whenever I find time. Do you think I am way out of my league? Or should I go for the run and the swim? How is the current out there? Any suggestions?
