First 1-mile open water swim

I am participating my frist open water swim, the American-Mile, this coming weekend. I have only self-trained for two weeks, and I have never swam as much as I had in this two week period. I am now able to swim at least a mile in a heated 25-yard pool in 52 minutes. Is it recommended that I participate in this race, knowing that I am probably not physically and mentally fit? And can you recommend any last-minute exercise that I can do to prepare for this race? My only goal is to finish the race. Any comments will be much appreciated.
