ARE you going?
What suit are you going to rock in your races? TIPS
One of the masters swimmers I train with went to Auburn,
this morning I asked him
"How do you get to Auburn?"
He said fly into Atlanta then drive 2 hours to Auburn.
He added if you do this, one thing you want to be aware of is
Atlanta is on Eastern Time & Auburn is on Central time
so when you drive from:
Atlanta to Auburn you subtract an hour &
Auburn to Atlanta you add an hour.
I'll be there! :bliss:In addition to all three breaststroke events, I will need to choose a fourth, since the 100IM is obviously not an option! And, I'm looking forward to swimming all the relays with my GAJA buddies!! :cheerleader: (Kristin, Ally, and Marianne: I hope I get to swim with the three of you again!)
I'll be there. 200 br, 100 br, and 50 br + relays. I might swim something else if I can put up a qualifying time before then.
As for getting there:
Atlanta is the obvious choice if you are coming from several hundred miles away. As mentioned, Birmingham is on the Southwest route. The closest "city" is Montgomery (about 45 minutes away) which is serviced by US Air and American (as well as Delta - but that's going to come from Atlanta anyway). The nice thing about Montgomery is that it is a smaller airport and sometimes easier to get through than a behemoth like Hartsfield.
Auburn has a wide array of hotels but you could get lucky and find a good deal on a condo for a week... especially if you have a team staying. Lots of people buy condos for the football season and then rent them out the rest of the year. There are deals to be found.

:applaud: I'm glad you will be there, Peter! I look forward to seeing you and all the David's, again! :D
:applaud: I'm glad you will be there, Peter! I look forward to seeing you and all the David's, again! :D Too close for us to miss it. At least two Daves, Roger and myself are planning to be there.

If I were you, I would choose the 200 Fly or 400 IM!!:banana::banana:
The drive from the Atlanta airport is really closer to 1h 15m to Auburn, unless you get stuck in major traffic. But if you time it right, it's pretty quick.

People can also fly into Birmingham, AL. Southwest flies into Birmingham. Birmingham to Auburn is about 2 hours and on central time.
I have fond memories of LCM Nats from the early days, but it now conflicts with my other passion, Shakespeare. I will be appearing in a professional production of Othello at that time. But I'm already excited about 2012 SC Nats and will see all of you in Greensboro!!
