Life Span of the New Tech Suits

Been racing in a B70 NeroTX. Six meets and twelve competition days. On the second day of the meet at Auburn, it started to show those white frayed thinning areas in the chest, crotch and back seam. So it's obviously on its way out. I have taken good care of it. Always rinsing in clear water after each day, not taking it on and off too much, always hanging immediately to dry, never leaving wadded up in my swim bag. Now that we've been racing in the new generation of suits since July, I was curious about other's experience with their suits. What brand are you wearing and how has it held up? Is my suit life typical or have your suits lasted longer?
  • Let us know what you think. I could do with a second racing suit, right now I have a TYR kneeskin, which is fine, but I find Speedo in general is a better fit than TYR on me. However I can't justify the Speedo $$ just yet. I'm interested to know if these fit more like a Speedo, as they use them as a comparison size, but am a litte put off by the sizings of say "26-28" and "28-30" - which to get if you want a 28 yk? FYI: For the Yingfa suits (at least the male version), I ordered a Large size, which says 28-30, and it fits pretty good. In other Speedo/TYR brand suits I've been using a 30.

Thanks - it might be slightly different for us girlies though - see my TYR is a 30 and very easy to get on, so I if I were to get another one I would definitely go to a 28. However I still have an old size 30 Speedo with zipper back that is a really snug fit - this one might be a kids size :laugh2:. Also my TYR endurance is bigger on my shoulders than my Speedo endurance and they're both supposedly 34! I'll see what Amy reports, or maybe buy one in each size & return one.:dunno:

I had a friend's yingfa kneeskin rip this first time she put it on, but it was a seam rip, so could be easily repaired. Other than that, it sounds like they're good suits. Thanks, guys, I think I'll invest the $30-ish. At that price, I don't think I'll be super disappointed if it fails. I just don't have the money for much more.

I rotate between the B70 Nero TX and the Speedo LZR Elite. The first time I wore both suits was last summer at LCM Nats. I've worn each for four meets, about an equal amount of swim each; I have worn the Speedo for the 800/mile as it is slightly more comfortable for me than the B70. I like both suits, but I have noticed that the B70 is somewhat more durable in terms of keeping its shape than the Speedo. The B70 still has a couple of meets left in it, but I'm just about ready to retire the Speedo to secondary meets. Six meets of many swims for the B70 actually seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm not sure the LZR would have lasted that long. When they were both brand new, I liked the Speedo a little bit better than the B70. I'm curious to try or hear feedback regarding the Tracer B series.
