  • :canada: He is the only guy to go under 14:40 without an Olympic gold medal. I liked how he was able to hold off Ous. I was kind of hoping that Cochrane would give Sun a fight. However, Sun is just so incredible. The Aussie didn't have a swimmer in this event but, Aussie distance coaching won the gold.
  • Now 17 Americans have won swimming gold so far and there is a very good chance to add at least 5 more (men’s 400 MR) and maybe 4 more in the women’s relay. Nathan Adrian, Alyssa Anderson, Ricky Berens, Tyler Clary, Conor Dwyer, Missy Franklin(2), Matthew Grevers, Charlie Houchin, Ryan Lochte(2), Matthew McLean, Lauren Perdue, Michael Phelps (2), Allison Schmitt (2), Rebecca Soni, Davis Tarwater, Dana Vollmer (2), Shannon Vreeland 27 Americans won swimming gold medals and with the 9 Rob predicted in the relays plus Katie Ledecky's win in the 800 makes 27 total swimmers and that is third behind the 1984 and 1996 Olympic teams. The total number of of gold medals collected by the 27 was 41. This team might have been stronger individually than the others but had 2 relays that did not win gold and that can sometimes add 5 to 7 swimmers to the mix per relay. Nathan Adrian (2), Alyssa Anderson, Ricky Berens, Rachel Bootsma, Tyler Clary, Clare Donahue, Conor Dwyer, Missy Franklin(4), Matthew Grevers (2), Jessica Hardy, Charlie Houchin, Cullen Jones, Katie Ledecky, Breeja Larsen, Ryan Lochte(2), Tyler McGill, Matthew McLean, Lauren Perdue, Michael Phelps (4), Allison Schmitt (3), Eric Shanteau, Rebecca Soni (2), Davis Tarwater, Nick Thoman, Dana Vollmer (3), Shannon Vreeland 1984 - 12 Women - 24 Gold Medals. 18 Men - 26 Gold Medals 30 S 50 Golds 1996 - 15 Women - 24 Gold Medals. 16 Men - 22 Gold Medals 31 S 46 Golds 2012 - 12 Women - 20 Gold Medals. 15 Men - 21 Gold Medals 27 S 41 Golds

Woohoo!!! So proud of Team USA in the relays. Amazing races. :bliss: Question though: Why is the order in the medley relays different from the order in the individual medleys? Is it just tradition/history, or is there a particular reason for this?
  • Question, the British backstroke did some side SDK action off of his walls. I know that it was legal off your freestyle walls. I didn't know it was legal off of backstroke walls. USA Men medal count might drop in the future with more and more male college programs being dropped. Of course, Michael Phelps didn't become successful from a college program. Do we really want to see US Men's Team going to the Olympics with their passport and AARP card? Most age group swimmers get serious about swimming in high school with the thought of a college scholarship. People who run USA Swimming should have a policy or solution for this. Finally, FINA Masters needs to have World Masters Champs or Worlds Masters Invitational after the Rio Games in the facility that they build.
