Great article. Growing up in San Jose (and swimming at SJA for a couple years), I remember the foggy/steamy mornings at Gunderson HS very well. And Cabana League swimming! I remember when Gunderson first opened, thinking it looked like a prison, but how cool for a HS to have a 50 meter pool.

Today is a difficult day for Lochte & Franklin. Both have doubles and their efforts in their 1st race is likely to affect their ability in their 2nd race. It's Lochte's difficult double. He swims the 200 BK final around 7:48 then 8:19 he races Phelps in 200 IM final. The 2 IM is Phelps first race of the night, giving him a big advantage. In the 200 BK, If Lochte is way in the lead at some point, I wonder if he'll swim his best effort for a best time or shut it down to rest up for the 2 IM? 8:37 PM W 100 FR Final FRANKLIN this might prove to be Missy's most difficult race. At 7:56 she swims the 200 BK semi final. She can cruise it & comfortably make top 8, but it still might her 100 free a little. 8:54 PM M 100 FL Semis Phelps This is a double for Phelps but he should be able to cruise into top 8, it's not before a final race, & resting from 8:22?? to 8:54 should be plenty. Times will tell. Tomorrows 100 fly final is not a given gold for phelps, he has to hit the wall first.
