  • This is one of my favorites in London: www.top10notes.com/.../most-beautiful-building-st-mary-axe.jpg Now, that's cool! :agree: And, definitely outside the box!
  • That is crazy looking. No wonder the tickets are 450 pounds. There isn't a 90 degree angle or straight edge in the entire building. What is the inspiration here? A shell? I think it's little too "natural" and futuristic for my liking. It's has a pseudo Frank Lloyd Wright design. It also reminds me of one of those creepy Johnny Depp movies- Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka, Edward Scissor Hands, etc. I love the design! :applaud: The architect was thinking outside the box with this one- literally and figuratively. In my opinion, the world has too many boxes for buildings as it is. Why do buildings have to have 90 degree angles and straight edges? :2cents:

The building is a spectacular design. Maybe the $ admission is to help pay for it. :) That said, it has 2,500 seats. www.zaha-hadid.com/.../ That is crazy looking. Why do buildings have to have 90 degree angles and straight edges? :2cents: I think the design is absolutely incredible and the construction even more so. Can you imagine the accuracy and difficulty caused by all those curves. 90 degrees and straight edges are just cheaper and easier to make. I just really don't love the look of it. I lived in Britian between the ages of 2-9. Europe has some really cool modern architecture. This is one of my favorites in London: www.top10notes.com/.../most-beautiful-building-st-mary-axe.jpg And let's just hope the British aren't building it because god knows they're not great at building things- Cars, the Titanic (technically Irish built but British designed), London Bridge, etc. There's that old British car joke something along the lines of "if it's not leaking oil it's because all the oil has already leaked out.' Let's hope the pool doesn't leak! The joke with "The Bird's Nest" in China was that it started off as a stadium, but then the chinese build things so cheaply that they had to come in with extra support beams to keep the building standing up, and thats why it ended up looking like a birds nest.

"That was really tragic. I hope she makes the team" And I'm pulling for her to go solid gold in all events and then a movie!

100 BR,Kitajima vs Oen with Hansen the darkhorse. 200 BR a Japanese showdown between Kitajima and Tateshi, but don't rule out Gyurka. Also someone can always peak at the right time and upset everyone.Oen was brilliant in Shanghai, but I think it was an emotionally-charged performance and may be a bit of a one-off. Kitajima is one of the greatest big meet swimmers of all time and a straight-up racer, I personally would never bet against him. IMO, Hansen's got to break 59 at trials to be in the podium picture in London, that's a long way from where he's been so far in his comeback. We'll see. For the Americans, there's one hell of a dark horse in Cordes. I've never seen Cordes swim LCM, but his coach says he's even better in meters. Check out the NCAA final, Cordes gets dropped a bit in the pull-outs but then crushes everyone between the flags. I can see how he'd be formidable with less walls. Also, he's a local boy so I've got to pull for him.

I think the Aussies are untouchable in the 4x100 free. Somebody please quote this when Switzerland ends up winning.
