Ive been doing research all night and i still cant find an answer ....
This may sound like a stupid question ... but what on earth is the tag on the back of everyone's suit?
The timing of it seems to have both advantages and disadvantages.
I think this year's trials are way to close to the Olympics. Anyone who had to fully taper to make the team (everyone except Phelps & Lochte) WILL be going slower in London.
Which is scary after seeing the number, and time, of gaps in events between Q and NQ. Would this make a greater number of overall medals, but fewer gold ones? Nevertheless these trials are fun to watch:)
I was actually interested to note that there are no teens at all on the men's team, where no one is under the age of 21. Also, the average age of the men's team is closer to 30 than to 20. Three men (Hansen, Ervin, Lezak) are in their thirties. There are a ton who are 28 years old (Lochte, Shanteau, Jones, Vanderkaay, Tarwater, etc...). Compare to Beijing, where there were several who were 20 years old, one was 19 (Adrian) and most of the rest were under the age of 25.This swimswam article is a good commentary on the age topic -- swimswam.com/.../.
I'm 100% in synch with Geek on the value of pros. I've not seen the MAC team in action with kids, but I saw them in action in Greensboro and they sure inspired the heck out of a number of us Masters Swimmers.
