Swam four events in a meet yesterday (actually five with the relay they threw me into). It was my first real meet in 22 years. My first event was the 50 ***. I came to the wall on the finish and reached out to get the touch pad. I tagged it and jammed my right index finger. OUCH. Didn't think it was that bad. It was sore, but I made it through my other events. Still sore all night. I iced it a bit last night, but this morning it's very swolen an brused.
This is not the first time I've done something like this. I once broke my foot hitting it on a gutter on a flip turn.
Did I mention I don't have any depth perception? And did I mention that I'm an idiot?
Huge bruise & cut on my right hand, hit the lane ropes. Ladies in the fitness class made waves and moved the lane ropes into my hand. Accidents do happen.
I haven't had a hand injury yet, but at my last meet I slammed my heel into the wall when I somehow mistimed the turn on a 100m free. Ouch. Fortunately I didn't break my foot, but it was a lovely shade of purple for a few days afterward.
I jammed my ring finger last year at the finnish of a race to the point where I had to have my wedding ring cut off and then re-sized when the swelling went down 6 weeks later!
