So it occurred to wonder what would happen if our very own Fortress -- who would probably admit she is a fairly competitive sort -- were somehow unable or unwilling to use the tech suits (eg b/c of poor fit, finances, or dislike). I would be wiling to bet a pretty big sum of money that her vociferous defense of the suits would turn around 180 degrees. And then some. ("A powerful ally she would be..." :))
I'll confess that I was inspired to this line of thought by a post of hers that made me laugh aloud, the one claiming that triathletes don't care about using technology in swimming (where does she think her beloved B70 got its start?) a pretty clear example IMO of the cart (conclusion) driving the horse (reasoning).
I don't mean to pick on Fort, of course, just to point out that all of this "hate" is mostly just a manifestation of our love of the sport. As if that is such a big revelation. Group hug.:chug:
I thought I said triathletes don't care about swimming, not technology for their swim leg. But my memory may be addled by illness rather than paper grading.
Geez, you make me sound pretty shallow. It's interesting because I have had several masters swimmers opine that tech suits helped me relatively less than other swimmers. (Though I think Jim is correct that no one really knows yet.) If so, under your estimate of my character, I should be jolly glad they're gone.
Pretty sure I have the masters WR for most tech suits loaned out or given away as well ...
"Not for nothin" as they say - although I'm not sure who they actually are, all-americanaquatics.com is having a men's FS-Pro blowout (among other suits) - $49.95 - so buy them so you can wear them to church, the supermarket, the sunday supper social, and when doing yard work. Swimoutlet.com will match the price as long as they have the size and color in stock. I'm sure they have some similar deals for the ladies.

Still legal in OW.

These are the FS-Pro jammers so they are FINA approved until they delay, rescind, exempt and or change their latest decision - then we will all be back to wearing the striped wool suits from the 20's complete with starw hats.

Nice, now those are some proper swim suit prices. None of this $400 suits crap. Ok, $320 MSRP for B70s. Yeah, Yeah, I know that the suits were heavily discounted during the last year.
Dangerous indeed. I am still trying to figure when pre-2008 and post-2007 is.
You sir are a master in performing Ad-Hominem attacks.
Let me make clearer for you, pre-Speedo LZR when the PS-Pro was considered the top of the heap in tech suits.
if it takes a tech suit to make swimming "more interesting" for you, might i suggest you wear said tech suit more often... to the supermarket... church... starbucks... etc.
True story: a triathlon friend of mine qualified for the biathlon (run-bike-run) world championships, or some such. Since he was "representing the US" in some sense, he had to wear their get-up. The "uniform" was a tri-kini made of the FS-II material.
Now, first of all, I think tri-kins are pretty darn funny-looking. But neither one of us could figure out why it had to be made of a swimming "high-tech" material for an event in which no one was swimming. He claimed it was pretty godawful-uncomfortable to ride in, too.
The only thing we could figure is that Speedo ponied up some money to be the team sponsor.
It's about 95% cheapness, 3% dumbness and 2% because they don't like wookie.
You make it sound like 97% are bad traits. As for the 3% being dumb, that's why I type.
