Not to insult Jeff, though I'm sure he knows, but his 1650 record in the 40-44 age group was broken by Alex Kostich two weeks ago, as well as his record in the 1000.
Read about it here: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../24185.asp
I forgot about that! Yeah, once Alex is in the pool no distance record is safe!
Eric Christensen set a new National record in the 35-39 1000 free with a 9:27.97. Keith Switzer and Scott Wells were both under the old record for 45-49 (by Wells) with Switzer winning in 9:43.93. Very impressive.
Here's one in the "things that make you go hmm" category. Larry Wood entered himself in the 1650 with a 26:30.20. He swam an 18:06 last month (and it was before the entry deadline). He finished in 18:19.81 and beat the second place person in his heat by four and a half minutes. He beat the ninth place person in his heat by 8.5 minutes!

what suit was Eric wearing?
That is some ridiculous sandbagging on Larry's part. That is :2cents:.

Perhaps he was planning to swim it breaststroke, but then changed his mind? Distance free is the last race type where I would ever want "clear water" to swim in. Racing distance free all alone is very boring.
