It appears that the Georgia Tech Hotel (meet headquarters) is already sold out. I just made a reservation at the Hampton Inn, which is supposedly within walking distance to the pool (but also offers a free shuttle). I am more concerned about the distance to the nearest Starbucks (where Geek will be buying me a latte).
Hey Gull-
I just googled this and it's 1.7 mi to the pool. I wouldn't want to walk that.
The shuttle is a good thing :agree:
So, if we stay at the Ga Tech hotel, can we get away without renting a car and without having to walk too much?
I don't plan to get a car. The trolley apparently stops at the MARTA station, the hotel and the pool.
There are a couple of restaurants in midtown that I really like:
Shout - moderately priced serving a wide variety of food (everyting from sushi to lasagna) 1197 Peachtree Street
South City Kitchen - moderately priced with traditional southern food (great banana pudding) 1144 Crescent Avenue
Both are a short cab ride from the pool.
I too would love to hear hotel recommendations from the locals.
And what about on campus parking? Is there a parking garage next to the pool, or is it on the other side of the campus?

well, will finally meet the famous paul smith and others. be nice, i might be timing or check in.
and to repeat.... unless staying in the burbs, a car is a major pain in the rump.
think nyc and i am sure the hotels charge a hefty parking fee.
Paul Smith is famous?
Ooooh, I'll have to get his autograph. Or maybe the autograph of the lady behind the man is worth more!
Ha ha. See you there Paul. Pat will be attending too! Hope to see you guys there.

I'll never forget meeting Paul the first time... over a plate of salmon :)
