Notably, no Phelps. This is the first one he hasn't been to in several years. No Weber-Gale or Peirsol either. That's all 3 of my most favorite swimmers. Ah, well. I'm still going, though. No way I'm going to miss the fastest swimmers in the world duking it out in a pool close to home.

I am so going to try and go to Irvine. It's only about a half a day's drive away. Just watching the races at Indianapolis (or wherever they were last year) on a little viewing window was exciting. Actually being there, though? Whoa.

Just came back from watching 2 heats of both the women's 1500 and men's 800. Pretty non-eventful, no new meet records like last year. I sat up towards the top of the stands in the same spot I did last year, a nice, secluded spot, that apparently attracted the eye of Matt Grevers looking for a solitary spot, too. He sat down with his laptop and bags probably about twenty feet away from me. I didn't know he wore glasses, but he does. I thought of saying hello, but decided to let him have his privacy. That guy is built so weird. Obviously, 6'8, but it's not just that. He looks like a brick wall walking towards you.
