I know I can't be the only person who is not at Nationals who is nevertheless keeping track of how many people in my age group are beating my best times of the season.
I am happy to report in this inaugural edition of Beat Watch 2009, that in the 400 IM, two guys have beaten my time--
1 Gilchrist, Donald 55 NCMS 4:55.00 4:41.09
29.32 1:01.98 (32.66)
1:39.57 (37.59) 2:16.63 (37.06)
2:56.44 (39.81) 3:36.93 (40.49)
4:09.45 (32.52) 4:41.09 (31.64)
2 Clemmons, Jim 59 MAM 4:44.50 4:43.38
29.59 1:02.58 (32.99)
1:41.09 (38.51) 2:18.06 (36.97)
2:58.68 (40.62) 3:40.31 (41.63)
4:12.70 (32.39) 4:43.38 (30.68)
The good news: both these fellows had ALREADY beaten me with swims earlier in the season, so nobody new at Nationals has thus far dislodged my precarious hold on a possible top 10 in this event...
I invite anyone to post their own "Beat Watch" results as they filter in...

And the Seed Time is what is put on the Psych Sheets?
Tom, it is actual Aaaahhhhh Hahhhhh Leeee.
No wait, that's the wrong pronunciation.
It's Ahh. Then the woman's name Haley added to it. Ahhh-Haley.
I say, All Hail Ahhh Haley.
I am pretty sure Ahelee is also a legedary triathlete with all kinds of Ironman accolades to her credit. I am not sure if she swam or did any sports on scholarship in college, but I would be willing to bet she did. Perhaps when she returns to the forums, she can have her publicist to give us an update on her C.V.
On a separate note, my own Beat Watch continues:

Gosh, I guess that my fingers have a mind of their own when it came to typing Ashlee instead of Ahelee
Oh well, Jim, at least, you are still a Zonesman. I am done with my beat watch. Right now, I am 10th in the 200 fly now and I will be lucky to stay in the Top 20 by the end of Nationals. Hopefully, this summer, you can be a Natsman or Indyman or whatever-Man at Summer Nationals.

Um, check our own poster Ahelee's time for the 400 IM, a national record:
1 Osborn, Ahelee Sue 51 MVN 5:12.02 4:56.39N

Maybe there aren't as many vying for Top Ten in the 50+ age groups for women, but there still sure are some fast times without the benefit of Title IX!
Sorry, but I am amazed by the 50+ women's top times so far at this meet.
Very very inspiring.
Ahelee's 400 IM was amazing. She was interviewed at floswimming.com and she said that she doesn't do it that much. It is nice how she kept her fly and free splits even. The Top 400 IM time in her age group last year was a 5:10. Good job, Ahelee.
Sorry to hear that. That is terrible!!! Thanks for letting me know that you are having these problems too!!! The worst is that in SCM and LCM, sometimes, all you have to do is finish the race!! Basically, I could have loafed the 200 LCM fly last summer and still made. But, in SCY, you have to be at the top of your game and you can still miss out.
Same here. Sadly 2 years ago I was heading in for wrist surgery so I didn't do my usual events. I could have easily made TT in several LCM events. But I decided to blow the season. I did make it in one event but could have had several instead. SCY, I'd have to do my absolute best plus lower my times a lot to get even close. We'll make it one day, Tom!

Aren't you the one with the cast on her leg. If so, you are swimming remarkably well under the circumstances. Right now, my Zones time in the 1650 makes me 9th based on Nats results. So, I am hoping that there are no "out of the blue times" that keep me out this year. I looked into further and based on last year's top ten in the 30-34 age group, the DB and the TT List were the same. Cross you fingers!
No Bloodbath in my 200 fly rankings!

I would have gotten 8th here with my "no recovery time after my 400 IM" time of 2:10 from Colonies Zones. I think that I will be around 16 and 17 when everything is said and done. Nice!! It beats the 5000th ranking that I got last year with the 2:40 that I did last year in the 200 fly. The guy who did a 1:49 is pretty amazing.
