Suit dilemma, please help

Looking for helpful advice. Please read forums.usms.org/blog.php Thanks
  • Two things: Order a back up Yingfa from George ASAP. Awesome suit. Will not rip. Fits great, comfy, fast (almost as fast as a B70). Today is the last day for 'Creekers to order B70s and get them for Natls. I see Roque almost every day. Let me know what size you want and I can ask him. I don't know you're last name- do you want to PM me so I can give Roque details?
  • I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Wolf. Wow, went out on a limb there :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:
  • Hopefully, you can get your replacement B70 replaced before Nats. Spring for expedited shipping, if you can. But, I still think you need a back up suit for meets. Suit malfunctions are not uncommon. You have to plan for them. Sure enough, the one time I didn't bring my back up Pro to a meet, I popped a hole in my B70 and was forced to swim in a poly tank. Super ugh. I really like the Pro, like K-Stew. (And Karl, why do you only post around Nats? Haven't chatted with you since we drank beer in Austin!) But, Wolfy, you seem to have a bit of a history of rips and tears and the Pro tears very easily. You might get an FS II kneeskin for backup. Or try the Yingfa for backup. You probably can buy a suit at the meet.
  • Paul, First I've been thinking it would be good to have a thread here on the boards where we could draw attention and comment on specific blog posts. As to your suit dilemma, 1) were you and the suit completely dry when you started putting it on? 2) was the locker room humid? If the locker room is humid, swimmers struggling to put on their suits start sweating, the moisture can make suits stick to their skin. One swimmer who ripped his suit told me, "I should have put on my suit in my hotel room." one suggestion might be for you to wear a jammer beneath the tech suit so it will slide up on your thighs easier. What caused the rip in your suit was the perfect storm of: you being too big the suit being too small & you pulling it too hard Here's B70's Guide to Putting on Suits Size Chart suggests a size 32 is appropriate for swimmers with a 33 waist & 41 chest. My guess is yours are much bigger. B70's sizing charts ought to include butt/hip and thigh dimensions I've heard of B70 suits ripping & getting hole pokes. Mainly with swimmers who were too big putting on suits that were too small or swimmers who didn't follow proper proceedure What should you do now? You are running out of time, get something big stretchy & new, have it delivered quickly or find someone with a large used tech suit in great shape, who's going to the meet. Message me or call my Cell 512 217 2728 I might have a big Blue FS 2 high neck or a few other surprises. Ande Suit dilemma, help Posted April 30th, 2009 at 12:00 PM by pwolf66 I don't know what to do. My Nero Comp that I got at LCM Nats had a seam failure in December. After a lengthly period fo time (mostly my fault), Dean from B70 offered to replace it for reduced cost with a PZ3+. It was an excellent example of quality customer service. I got the replacement suit Thursday of last week and tested it out on Friday. It was OK, didn't feel as good as the Nero and I'm not a great fan of full leg suits but it fit good and felt good in the water. So at Zones on Saturday, I'm putting it on and adjusting the suit upwards and the inside seam on the right leg rips. OMG, WTF just happened??? It might have been my fault but I was extremely careful to grab the seams between my thumb and index finger knuckle. I had trimmed my nails. So I don't know. Because it was on and it didn't look like the tear was getting worse, I swam my events that day in the suit and them took it off very carefully and rinsed it, took it home and hung it up. I have sent Dean several emails on this and have left several voice mail messages concerning this issue and have so far received no response. I'm a little concerned. I have a well worn (purchased in Dec 07) FS1 kneeskin and FS1 jammers that I could swim Nat in but as with most tech suit fans, I want my B70!!!! Failing that, should I try to obtain a replacement? I've looked on Ebay and pretty much the only suit out there in my size (XL-L) is the FS1 kneeskin. New would be better than old, I guess. Anyone have any really great places to find tech suits at reduced prices? Should I just forget it and swim in what I've got pending the new rulings? I leave for Clovis next Wednesday so I don't have a lot of time.
  • OK, hopefully the folks that read this did not take it as a condemnation of B70. That was not the intention. I was just looking for advice on where I could locate a cheap alternative and what suits I should have considered pending contact with B70. As an update, Dean just called me (apparently there were issues with the phone number that I left) and once again, showing that B70 engages in superior customer service is shipping out a replacement PZ3+ so I should be in good shape for Nationals. Thanks, Dean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can probably get a new FSPro from SwimOutlet.com. They have come down in price and are still great suits. I do prefer my B70, but the Pro is a close 2nd. I keep praying I don't have a pre race rip, I'm sure the stress had to suck....See you in Clovis!
