You're right, her dedication is amazing - especially considering the challenge of resources for elite swimming in her area. A few of us from my masters group were talking about that fact this morning.
Really hope the Grand Prix goes well for her this weekend.
She's making all these waves now, but what happened 8/9 months ago at Trials? She swam pretty well at trials and I think she swam a bit faster later in the Summer.
After trials she was named to the US team for the World Junior Championships in Mexico a week later. She went down there, collected a haul of golds, and was named the swimmer of the meet.
No offense to Ms. Knutson, but I have seen the future of US Women's swimming , and it is . . . drum roll . . . the charming Ms. Elizabeth Beisel.
Check out this interview. Girl's got a 1000 watt smile, some serious star power, and is remarkably self possessed for being so young.
Oh yeah, she's a pretty decent swimmer, too.

There is plenty of room for more than one "future of U.S. women's swimming". The more the better.
