I think it might be migrating to the back-to-*** turn used in high school meets where you don't have to touch the wall (on your back with your hand) before turning over, so you roll into the turn like the current backturn/flipturn, just coming off on your stomach.
Wow, that took a lot of explaining and I'm not even sure it makes sense.
I'm leaving now - go Gators.

And you didn't vote for it? "One hand touch no longer required to finish backstroke leg of IM"
I didn't even know that change was already happening when I decided to include it as a poll choice!

Guess I went thru 'em so quickly...
Think I was getting ahead of myself on this game tonight.
I picked the "dive into backstroke" option for a few reasons:
I swim backstroke, and a front dive is the most clear violation of the "back" in backstroke I can think of since the turn change
It seems the one option that would most quickly trim indecent amounts of time off a race/record IMHO (of those presented)
Backstrokers can make faces at those who watch them swim and thus could add insult to the whole process while competing. :D

I don't know about "indecent" amounts of time, probably 0.5-1.0 sec per race.
The "making faces" aspect -- and the ability to look up at the sky when swimming outdoors -- is the best aspect of the stroke. My 9-yo son, who doesn't take his swim races overly seriously, cracks me up when he spits water up in a fountain after his backstroke turns. :drown: I'm not a pushy swim parent but even I can't help suggesting to him that it is okay if he is a little out of breath after a "race."
My guess is that the tech suit war will continue on for another millienium.
It's like the thermo-nuclear fusion going on at the center of the Sun: Once it got ignited, it burned on for billions of years. :bitching:
The only thing that can put it out is if FINA decides to dump the idea of tech suits in it's entirety and the whole fad will implode into a Black Hole. :bolt:

Why don't you go first, so FINA can see how it is done. :applaud:
If things get dull, we can always fall back on such topics as drugs, Dara Torres, or Total Immersion.
If things get really dull, we can always invite He Who Can't Be Named back.
