Interesting that you should say that. Sometime in the mid 1970s, a quote much like that was uttered by Peter Daland, in reference to the lowering of the 50 yard freestyle record. Extrapolating the time progression from the 1960s, he predicted that sometime in the middle of this century we should see the first 00:00.00 50 free.
