2 scenarios:
1st you have 10 hours per week to train, no individual attention from coach( coach mainly with bunch of hs swimmers) but assigned workout sets by coach
2nd you have 5 hours per week to train, more coach attention, but have to go straight to work right after 5:30 am-6am practice.
Wchich one would you choose? Assumption: you are self driven/can follow on your own.

5:30am-6:30am practice 5 hrs/week more coach attention, must leave for work right after practice
depends; office or coal mine?
I'd just mix it up, being adults and most (I assume) having families its pretty tough to get into one permanent routine. I prefer the AM as I beat traffic, more lanes available, and then I'm DONE for the day. But occasionally I like to sleep in an extra hour or two, or I'm travelling for work, etc....so then I'll go evening if I can. I just don't like getting home to see the kids, eat dinner, etc. until almost 8pm. Makes for too long of a day.
I just always pack my back the night before so I'm pretty much ready and my equipment (paddles, board, buoy, etc) pretty much is a permenant fixture in my vehicle.
I try not to stress about HAVING to always be there at a certain time or at all....after all, it should be fun. I did the 2-adays for years and years and years way back when....I'm beyond those days now and want to actually enjoy the sport.
As much as I hate mornings, I'd go for coach attention, if the coach is good. I have had coach attention only 3 of my 6 years of masters swimming, and I miss it when I don't have a coach.
Quality over quantity.
Cheers,
