Not so much a thread as an announcement.
Michael Phelps will host Saturday Night Live tomorrow (Sept. 13). I figured plenty of Masters swimmers that don't normally watch the show (and missed the ads) might want to tune in. I'm not sure if I want him to be tame enough for my 10-year-old son (Phelps phan!) to watch with me, or if I want him to be less tame and more funny!
Phelps was OK--you could tell he was nervous. I liked him in the skit where he was the wierd cousin of the strange girl who likes to say "We" all the time.
His worst skit, in my opinion, was the restaurant skit with the waiter who kept talking about the pepper smell. Granted, I completly agree that the material wasn't very good, but during that skit, he seriously stared at the teleprompter the entire time and barely looked at the actors.
I also think they could have done more with the "Swim Cop" TV gag in the opening monologue. :dunno:
The Palin/Clinton skit was pretty good. Tina Fey could be Palin's sister!
They should have done more with the SwimCop part, but Pohler acting as Phelps' Mom - that was hilarious... I thought the T-Mobile skit was kind of funny and the Pepper Waiter one was horrible. Phelps did a nice job... glad he got to do that.
Loved the pictures of Phelps after the commercials - those are always great.
in the cousin skit he seemed like napoleon dynamite

didn't think the the future olympics music video was very funny
I think my Michael Phelps song sung by a man would have been way funnier especially if he didn't know what was coming

Oh....yea...those were nice. :)
I haven't had a chance to watch all of my DVR'd verision yet (my tv has been held hostage by my roommates and Grey's Anatomy all day) but what I have seen between last night and today was pretty good. For being a non-actor he did pretty good. The weird cousin one was pretty funny. It was fun to see someone that you've always pictured in one light in a completely different way.
