One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

Not too busy this day oregonmasters.ning.com/.../geoeasy2mov-1 And, can you imagine the pool being busier than that ? :afraid::censor:
  • :afraid: :bolt: There is NO way I would even attempt it! ditto!
  • And if anyone wants to challenge that statement have them get in touch with me! If I play hooky from the pool for a couple weeks, as happens occasionally, I can barely walk because of the hip pain. But a couple hundred yards of kicking with fins for a couple workouts and the problem miraculously disappears. Works much better than the previously tested three beers cure. Well, have you tried them both together; your swim session, followed by the three beers cure? Cheers! :chug: Disclaimer: I haven't tried it myself. As much as I love using that Smilie, I am really not much of a drinker; just the celebratory glass or two of champagne or wine, or an ice cold beer. :D

  • I'm acquainted with a few of the noodlers who come at lunch time - since I used to swim at the same time. Two of them have given it up. Interestingly they say, they "just weren't able to lose weight doing water aerobics" -- ha ha, surprise! On the upside, however, I did my masters thesis on "Reducing the discomforts of pregnancy with water exercise" - and a lot of my research included the benefits of water aerobics for those with arthritis. We have a group of people who come at 7am almost every day (just as I'm leaving) to do their water exercise - and some of these people can barely walk - literally using walkers to get to the pool deck. The instructor told me that one of her participants has been able to give up her walker for the majority of the day since joining her class - after only 6 weeks or so! The message here, although these people can be seriously annoying (to me too!!) it is wonderful that they have the opportunity to improve their quality of life, and maintain their mobility by exercising in the water. It is unfortunate that they can not be more polite to the other pool patrons. We are fortunate in Tallahassee, we seem to have mostly very nice people here.

ElaineK --- I'm just short of a total teetotaler these days, maybe a small glass of wine once in awhile. It wasn't always that way, but as the years whiz by, I find it more and more important to health out on all fronts. And it's not at all difficult.
  • I limit to just one glass of wine (merlot, cab, sometimes muscato) 3x/day and keep the noodles away. Noodles are empty calories.

I told my doctor I was going to stop drinking wine and she got irritated with me. She told me all the health benefits of a glass of wine, and that if I enjoyed it I should continue in moderation. Good enough for me. :D

I'll drink to that but I prefer 2 or 3 double Margaritas. Then a taxi ride home it is a two mile walk from here and after 2 of their margaritas I cannot possibly walk home.
