One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

I have counted as many as 16 ladys in the hot tub at our pool after they had their exercise classes. Non of them had wet hair and they had not worn bathing caps. Wait a minute. SOmeone who was exercising in a POOL complained that her hair got wet and that was seen as a valid complaint? I wish you luck at the board meeting and I hope that reasonable people are in charge of the discussion when it happens. I'll keep a good thought!
  • As I stated earlier: Give it up and walk away. The dry-haired noodler's will get bored and you will have the pool alone again very soon. If no one is trying to disrupt the territorial bitc_ _ s they will move on and find another turf to defend. It's all about that and nothing about the pool!
  • An unfair vote made in an unfair way, excluding those who support me and would have voted in my favor, will now go to the board as a "recommendation". Gee, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to draw a conclusion here as to how the board will decide... But, as a final stand, I will attempt to have my voice heard by the actual board, one way or another... Wondering how your saga is going, and when the board meeting is... hoping for the best in noodle-land.
  • Ugh, that sucks, Elaine. Yeah, would have been nice to know about this "policy" before. Still, I think I'd be inclined to use my conversation differently... acknowledge that you understand and respect the policy, yes. But I might also express how important swimming is to you, how hard it is for you to get your workouts in given your medical condition, how disappointed you are with the way things were handled, and how you were verbally and even physically attacked for simply expressing a desire to share the pool. It might not -- and probably won't -- change anything. But I'd think they would want to know -- and should know -- what really transpired. *Someone* should feel just a little bit bad for the way that you were treated.

I expressed some of what you are suggesting in the letter that was sent to the advisory committee and board. But, expressing it verbally to the Prez. would leave a more lasting impression. I know my husband already expressed everything you suggested, when he spoke with the Prez. during their phone call, but coming from me would give it more meaning. The most important thing to express, I think, is how poorly this whole thing was handled. Hopefully, the take away for him will be, "Let's make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Let's be proactive, rather than reactive." Thanks, again, for your suggestions and support! :)

Resurrecting this thread on a lighter note..... Overheard in the locker room today as the noodlers were leaving: Noodler "I get too cold in that pool, and particularly with winter coming I think I'll try the weights upstairs rather than go in the water" Lap swimmer "Swim laps, you'll soon warm up and anyway the leisure pool is much warmer than the big lap pool" (Yep no pool sharing here) Me silently thinking..........fight, fight, fight - go lap swimmer :cheerleader: But winter???? its still almost 90 here!
  • Noodler "I get too cold in that pool, and particularly with winter coming I think I'll try the weights upstairs rather than go in the water" But winter???? its still almost 90 here! I can relate, 'Fly! The average high in my area of Georgia should be 84, but it has been in the 90's most of the month. It was 97 on Monday, 95 on Tuesday, and, IS IT EVER GOING TO COOL DOWN??? I have the Pentathlon swim meet on Saturday and 90+ heat is brutal on my heat intolerant autonomic nervous system. :afraid: Back to the noodlers... It just baffles me when the noodlers get in our 84 degree(!!!) pool and complain in their whiny voices, "It's tooooo coooooold!" I did win one (*little*) victory against the noodler masses though. The outdoor water aerobics group moved their class back indoors and I actually was given the choice of whether I wanted the indoor classes to start at 9am or 9:30, with the "advanced" class starting an hour later. Naturally, I chose 9:30! :agree: (Last year, there was only one class for everybody and they co-existed with lap swimmers. This year, there are two classes and we are kicked out of the pool for both). That may not seem like much of a victory, but that extra 30 minutes comes in handy when I can't get to the pool in time to get 11/2 hours of swimming in.
  • My wife was just finishing her workout(in 83 degree water) when a noodler got in the pool and shiveringly said"don't you hate this water temperature."My wife replied"absolutely,it's much too hot for a good workout" and rejoiced at the look of incredulity on the noodlers face.
