Better than the alternative. If you don't "hook up" you have to face the ignominy of telling your lanemates the next morning that you went home and did a "pull set" before going to bed.
"Hooking up" was in the lexicon back in my college days, so I have no problems with it. You do realize that railing on about it makes you seem old, don't you?

I see it at regular USA meets too. Big flirt fest. After zones this summer, my kid came home and, thanks to facebook, I found out that she was "in a relationship." lol. At least I guessed who!
Maybe Geek can come up with a better word than hookup.

If you are strongly against asking someone to hook up with you, just ask if they want to come over and kick it -or- do you like sushi?
