What are the medal standings by college team ? We need some restrictions though: - current swimmer or only 1 year removed (Auburn would get Cielo credit, but not Coventry) or post-grad who stayed (Peirsol). - current or former NCAA swimmers only = Michigan can't count Phelps USC: Soni Silver, Jensen Bronze , Keller for the prelim, that's about it Coughlin for Cal VanderKaay for Mich Cielo for Auburn Is Lochte still training at Florida ? Not a lot of college medalists ?

So, she's signed a letter of intent and school hasn't started yet...me no buy:D LOI's are binding. The only way she DOESN'T swim at Texas is if she goes pro (not likely) or if Texas decides to release her (really, really, really unlikely). Trust me, she's a Longhorn! But whatever you feel better. :dedhorse:

On the subject of college connections, what is up with Larson Jensen constantly making the USC victory sign? He did this at Olympic trials and even referred to how great USC swimming is when John Nabor asked him about the strength of USA swimming. He did the hand signal on TV at the Olympic games as well. I'm all for pride in your college, by surely he can understand the difference between representing his country in international competition and representing his university in NCAA competition. You don't see the Texas guys giving the hook'em horns sign at the O games.

Signed the letter of intent, so she's officially a Texas Longhorn unless the school releases her from her schollie. Hate to break it to you!!! She hasn't received a minute of Texas coaching nor taken a single class. No way she counts.

what is up with Larson Jensen constantly making the USC victory sign? This is just a habit us USC grads have after winning so many races. The horns are ugly and the sign is officially banned outside the state of Texas. The victory sign is just our way of showing you that we are not arrogant we are just better than you ... :notworthy:

To give this list validity I would attribute any swimmer to the college they attended. Each swimmer gets one chip, they can put it in the college till of there choice. No chip for Phelps or Hoff.

I was trying to figure out a way for the college to be able to take actual credit for the medal in terms of a combination of training and attending. Soni trains and USC and swam NCAAs this year -- Dara Torres has probably not been to the Florida pool in 20 years. Swimmers headed to a given college means very little in those terms. I think Texas rules this for the Men - but again, much less college medalists than before - the pros are taking over.

I guess if Jensen wins the 1500, I can overlook it, but otherwise keep your fingers to yourself.

If you look at alumni, Texas is doing well. So is Michican, Cal, USC and Stanford. Didn't Dave Walters also swim in the prelims for the 4 x 200 free relay? If so, it is Dave Walters, Ricky Berens, Weber-Gale, and Piersol. Remember though that Crocker and Hansen were at one time Longhorns as well. And I would go ahead and count Hersey as a Longhorn myself. All in all, Longhorn Aquatics was well represented as Coventry, Spann, and Shanteau all are members no was well.
