I just booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Troutdale.
I called several hotels and they were all booked up. I'd suggest anyone else who needs a room better get on the stick! I'm sure there are plenty of rooms in the portland area, but everything fairly close to the pool is getting snatched up.
Hillsboro isn't more than 45 mins from the pool. I should know, I live just west of H'boro and I get to the pool in under an hour...

I drove it for 5 years and we always gave ourselves 60-90 min for traffic.
Um... Hillsboro. I'm staying with a friend so I'll be about 90 min away. I will be dividing my time between my friends on the western side and swimming on the eastern side. I will be going to the Friday social, though. Any one else? I haven't had a McMenamin's beer in over 2 years. I'm due now!

Traffic (at least rush our traffic) is Portland's dirty little secret. (This is especially true between Hillsboro and downtown Portland.) I've gotten stuck in absolutely brutal traffic just about every time I go to that town for business...
Otherwise it's an absolutely lovely city. I'd love to come to Nats this year (it would be my first ever), but I just won't be able to make it work. :(
I was hoping to get a room at McMenamin's. Nope, all sold out. Same story at the Best Western Cascade. I guess I should book a room somewhere soon, but since I'll be driving down I'm not terribly concerned yet.
The social events look like fun. I need to concentrate on not drinking too many microbrews, though :)
