Maybe not motivational swimming songs, but the best two rock and roll songs ever recorded in my opinion are REM "Sitting Still" and Dire Straits "Expresso Love."
Why has no one submitted that the best swimming song is "Stroke Me?"
REM's "Night Swimming" is a very good swimming song also, although it's not one of those "get up and go" numbers. It reminds me kindly of many nights camping on various lakes in Upper Michigan, long moonlight reflections on the water like a softly lapping carpet of cold silver, and floating on my back after midnight while watching the Aurora Borealis.
Some amazing times, those.

Not really, just wanted to throw that out there. On the rare occasions in which I have used my iPod at a meet, the playlist has been heavily populated with rap tunes.
This thread reminds me of the scene in Gone in 60 Seconds where "Low Rider" is playing as the thieves get ready to jack some cars. If you've seen it, you will know what I mean.
I had a club team coach that used to MAKE me listen to U2 - New Year's Day before every swim. He also used to scream in my face every time I took a breath and veins would pop out in his neck.:applaud:
On that note - anyone using a radio when they swim? I had one ages ago that was really big, and am hesitant to buy another one if it's not gonna work well.
