The camera panned in on Natalie Coughlin's face when Hansen came in 4th.
She covered her mouth as if they all just witnessed a terrible accident.
Kitajima is probably just as disappointed.
(Well, Maybe Lochte won't feel so bad about his 100 back now.)
All sports are brutal when it comes to being selected. You must be there and do your best the day they make the selection. It is not always the best person gets there.
My jaw dropped when I witnessed Hansen's 4th place finish. I guess it just goes to show that even the uber elite have bad swims once in a while too.
Torres had a great swim in the 100M Free. Really enjoyed that.
This is one disappointed Canadian.
We (or, at least, I) don't get/have USA TV.
So I watched NBC on day 1 and hope to get some
TV time tonight (and over the weekend, I believe, on NBC).
nbcolympics.com has been a huge disappointment to me.
I even installed that "silverlight" module/plug-in (?) but the only video that
I have been able to "play" has been the 20 second commercial.
Nothing else "plays".
I would personally rather watch good (or even less than stellar) swims than read about them from this forum or other sources.
So what has happened to the semi finals of the Men's 200IM? By this time yesterday all the events had been completed. It must be past midnight in the States by now.
---John Naber interviews each athlete after they receive their medals. His first question to Natalie Coughlin was, "So, how does it feel to get beat by a 41-year-old?" There were gasps from the crowd.
I've heard a lot of discussion about how terrible Naber has been.
