I have known and swam against Tim Shead for 16 years and that 100 *** time is just amazing based on his prior swims. He is a fantastic swimmer, don't get me wrong, but the leap from 1.14.67 to 1.11.1 at 56 is just over the top (faster then he has ever swam in masters). I hold the 200 meter wrold record at 2.46 (never thought it was a great swim but still its the record) I would expect Tim to go under 2.40 after the 100 time. If he was wearing the LZR suit and its makes that much difference then there is going to be a stampede to buy them. He sure deserves kudos for these great swims, regardless, maybe he will show up in Austin and break all the records wearing a drag suit!!!!! Looks like my 100 to 200 yd national records are toast!!!!!!! At least he is 6 years younger to me.
For the guys in his age-group Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is the fastest 100 meter *** Tim Shead has ever swam after 20 years of competition. I am not suggesting anything except its hard to believe a guy at 56 suddenly swims that much faster then when he was in his forties. Broke the 200 IM record by four seconds almost 2 seconds faster then the 50 to 54 guys. He is scehduled to swim in Austin and should go minute flat in the 100 *** hell he broke the 50 *** record going to his 100 in Perth. He is a great swimmer but the time drops are astounding. His own old world record in the 100 meters (set last year) was 1 14.67.

Heartbreak of the meet. in the 100 back Kristen Gary (Red Tide NY) has a great swim leads at the 50 by about 1/2 second, breaks the 100 Backstroke world record then finishes second - by 0.01 second (one of the coaches said at the end of that race was the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat).
Suzanne Heim-Bowen won the 400 freestyle at 4:42.37, breaking Laura Val's World record by five seconds. Suzanne won four gold medals and one bronze and the open water is tomorrow.
Laura Val, I am fairly sure won five old medals. The 400 has not been posted yet but she swam a 4:50.56 breaking her own 400 record.
Bobbi Callison of Rinconada Masters won four golds and a silver. In the silver, Jane Asher beat her, but had to set a world record to do it.
Ken Frost won a bunch of hardware. He took all the breaststroke medals, a couple of relay golds and a couple of other top ten finishes.
It has been fun meet so far - Open water tomorrow.

Hi Michael, Jenny Whiteley is Australian, and swims for the club that Shane originally swam for in the 70's. She swims many meets, not just the special ones, and recently broke several WR's, having just moved into the new age group.
Tim was wearing the LZR. I came second to him in the 100 and promised to be closer in the 50. I managed to borrow an LZR and came second again with a time 0.05 short of the old 50 record. If I had got the crutch up a bit higher I may have even broken the WR as well.
Dang, now I have to hope I can get an LZR by LCM Nats.:help:
Tim was wearing the LZR. I came second to him in the 100 and promised to be closer in the 50. I managed to borrow an LZR and came second again with a time 0.05 short of the old 50 record. If I had got the crutch up a bit higher I may have even broken the WR as well. Anyway Tim beat me by 1.01 secs and it was my best swim by 0.49 under my last electronic timed swim. I guess I need to increase my training from 2 hrs a week to 3 or 4 and try some of Tim's health food supplements.
I did however swim PB's of almost 4 seconds in the 200 IM and 200 *** swimming in my TYR suit, so the event brought out the best in me.
Since starting training only last year, I have swum my 100 5 seconds faster than when I was 18 and taken almost 3 seconds off my 50 in the last year.
Robert, sorry we didn't see you in Perth this year. It was my first Worlds and I enjoyed the whole event.
