I don't mind super relays and any motivation to get old friends back swimming and competing is just great, BUT, I feel very strongly that Master swimming should be limited to people under 6 feet 4 inches in height. I am taking this proposal to convention this September and hopefully we can eliminate some of these storks that are ruining our sport for the average "little people"!!!! Its time to stand up and fight them!!!!!!! EOM
Yeah!!! Slowshow, you stand on my shoulders, and I'll take a run at that tall guy over there. With a motion like spiking a volleyball, you jump up and punch him in the stomach! OH NO HE SEES US, EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF :bolt:
Mr. Gill,
I look forward to your verbal harassment at the meet in Austin as announcer.
Yes, the 11-12 year old relay was amusing wasn't it. It took quite some effort to put it together though. Had to wake up bodies that hadn't hit the pool for decades.
Note, Glenn Mills, our *** stroker, swam against me as a 10 and under and 11-12 year old in NE Ohio as well as the high school state meet years ago. He is making a bit of a masters comeback this year. He has a good sense of humor.
Also note that the meet will be held on sacred Texas turf this year. I will have a serious home pool advantage. Once I enter the Swim Center, my longhorn tatoo will begin to brightly glow with super powers.

So is this Arizona Masters team that "will rule the waves in Austin" going to open up their challenge to all ages. If it is too much, maybe you should just open the challange up to the ages just above and just below you also...like 35 to 44 and 55 to 64 also.

This “Arizona Masters” relay sounds incredible. I think your idea of going after the high school boys national record is great. Man the team is unbelievable. I really seriously doubt anyone, especially in your age group, will even be close. I am going to enjoy watching you guys swim that relay should I decide to watch the meet.
I was wondering, since you guys are pulling swimmers from all over the country & have such awesome swimmers (two Olympians, one of which is a triple gold medalist) and there is pretty much no chance in hell anyone in your age bracket will beat you, Why not open your challenge to all age groups? You are in pretty much the most competitive age group right now and with the times posted, you guys should make this fun. See if you get any bites…what does Chuys cost anyhow? If you guys do “happen” to get beat, just offer that to the winning team (not that anyone will beat you anyhow). This might open up the competition a little more and get you more “trash talking.”
I think it is cool you guys are doing this. It may spark some old timer to get back into the water. If you guys are going after the high school national record, you should go ahead and challenge all the others at the master’s nationals.
Just a humble opinion.
Have to love the irony in this...chasing the boys high school record. Using "ringers" from various teams to beat a record where swimmers are not free to switch teams as needed to obtain the best time possible.
Anyhow, I watched these kids go 1:35.30 last year and thought that was mighty impressive. If you guys can hammer out a 1:34, I'll be taunting our high school swimmers with the meet results sheet.

Since this was done at a USS meet it's not the high school record, though, is it?
Actually I just Googled this and it wouldn't break the high school record anyway. The public school record is 1:31.25 by The Woodlands H.S. and the independent school record is 1:31.10 by Mercersburg.
These were on Swimming World's site: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../highschool_national_records.asp
it says they are as of 2003, so it's very possible one or both have since been bettered.
